The Art of Flowers is a pageantry of blooms, highlighted by outstanding photographs taken in cozy homes and country settings. The colourful images of flowers, described as symphonies of senses, are captured weaved through arched trellis, spilling out of jam-packed cornucopias, and bursting forth from charming rough-hewn clay pots.
Fragrant roses and soft-coloured peonies, happy bright dahlias and dramatic blue hydrangeas, (both fresh and dried), big-faced sunflowers, and gorgeous purple wisteria are delights to inspire and savour for both the novice as well as the flourishing gardener.
Ideas and easy step-by-step tutorials on how to create and replicate some of the most stunning bouquets and long-lasting flower table arrangements, ones that include graceful gatherings of flowering branches in non-traditional contrasting vases, drove me to the garden armed with my trusty floral snippers.
At the dining room table, teacups and tulips arranged on flowered plates with cream-whipped summer desserts are akin to fabulous art-like settings.
The gardeners’ chapter showcases palettes of flowers that are comparable to a painters’ canvas. Brushstrokes of wildflowers in pinks and purples and yellows and oranges, make the pages of this book breathe with poignant life.
