Antanas Sileika, a Canadian journalist of Lithuanian descent is the author of five books of fiction, as well as a memoir. He was shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Award, and the Toronto Book Award and his books have been listed as among the one hundred best books of the year in the Globe and Mail.

Sileika became involved with through journalism with Lithuania’s restitution of independence during the fall of The Soviet Union 1988-1991, and for this activity he received the Knight’s Cross medal from the Lithuanian government in 2004.

 

A captivating and thoroughly engaging author, Sileika will read from his newly published book, Some Unfinished Business, a story of a young Lithuanian man who does his best to prevail through anti-Soviet resistance in his beloved country of Lithuania. It is a path that will take him through punishing conditions in the Gulag and authoritative forces who do their best to crush his love for a mysterious woman to whom he is drawn.
